Rats in business

Why are there rat in business

Now i am not talking about the two legged kind of rat and i know of at least a couple of them as i have met them in person.

What i am talking about here are the four legged kind.

The food industry has to be extremely careful to eradicate these verminous, unhealthy creatures. They carry all kinds of health risks, yet as is still occurring in Britain, rats are infesting food establishments.

One thing in the food industries assistance is the recent bin men’s strike action, which incidentally is still going on even after 5 months.

Millions of bags of garbage is piling up on every street, encouraging these pests to increase in number. So why would you not expect the food industry to be a target for these furry fiends.

I don’t mean to rant on about immigration food stores but i have to say that these store are most often the perpetrators of lax health stores. The whole industry immigration or local food stores need to look at all the health implications and I for one will have no qualms of closing any store the very first time I find a discrepancy in those regulations.

A bakers rant

A Baker’s Rant

I often feel that not enough is being done to protect our food chain from the scientists or governments.

The reason i say that is the history of my own life. I have seen first hand of the strange ways the scientists have used to explain why our foods are being loaded with chemicals. My opinions only!

Today October 18th, i read a story of why salmon farms are rearing Atlantic salmon in the Pacific. They say that Atlantic salmon grow faster and yet Atlantic salmon don’t swim in the Pacific.

Now it is said that these Atlantic salmon might be carrying a deadly virus which might also be why the local sockeye salmon are on the decline. Apparently the biological results are still out.

They said a similar thing about feeding beef ground up meat to increase their weight faster. AND we got BSE and millions of cattle died.

Why are the scientists and governments going against Mother Nature, the very foods they claim to be modernizing are also in my opinion the foods that are also causing many human illnesses.

Black Bear

While showing a visiter to my local salmon fishing hole we were disturbed by a wild experience.

Just across the river was a black bear leisurely eating black berries, while dozens of people just continued to fish for Pinks.

Here’s the video i shot.

It is alway’s a difficult task to choose one carving over another. Because they are all rather spectacular. The detail is awe inspiring. But what you see were all carved out of one log.

Transformation on the shore day 4

The Saturday Salmon BBQ

Day four of The Transformation On The Shore is certainly bringing out the best in all the wood chips, shavings and sawdust, that have been blowing through the air of late.

Day four, was also another highlight to the carving contest. The salmon barbecue. The salmon is cooked directly on the beach around a fire that is using chunks of wood off the logs being carved, in the Native traditions. That was something to see.

Along with the salmon was three salad dishes which included fresh caught prawns from local waters of off Vancouver Island, Bannocks, rolls. Followed by carrot cakes, lemon meringue tarts, both vanilla and chocolate fudge covered cake. Coffee, pop and water.

Every thing starts again Sunday morning. The carvers now have until 2 p.m. to complete their creations. At that time all the ceremonies start, prizes are chosen and winners notified. Auctions are closed and winners presented with their auction trophies.

Canada Day Fireworks

Canada Day Fireworks

What a fitting end to a birthday party that lasted practically all day long!

The queues for doughnuts alone were about 100 deep. In fact Campbell River has a population of about 32 to 35 thousand people and i swear they were all on the shore tonight for the impending fireworks on the water.

All over Canada, July 1st is celebrated like American’s celebrate July 4th and Britain’s celebrate Guy Fawkes day on November 5th.

And, just like most other countries we end the party with fireworks!

This is a long video of about 10 minutes. Watch!
